KinSpend collects your email address, password (hashed), and any financial transaction data you enter. If you link a WhatsApp number, we store that number to associate incoming messages with your account.
Your data is used solely to provide the KinSpend service — tracking expenses, income, and transfers across your accounts. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.
Entries you type in plain language — in the app's chat box or to the KinSpend WhatsApp number — are processed by an AI parser to extract transaction details. We keep the message, what the parser understood, and any corrections you made, so we can measure and improve how accurately entries are read. This history is tied to your account, is used only to improve parsing for your own entries and the parser in general, and is deleted along with your account.
When something fails, we record the error along with your account, the screen you were on, and your browser/device type, so we can diagnose and fix it. Error logs are visible only to the app's administrator.
To learn which parts of KinSpend people find useful, we count, per month, which screens you open, which features you use (for example adding an entry by chat, form or WhatsApp), and whether you use the Android app or a browser. Only the names of screens and features and how many times they were used are recorded, never amounts, notes or other content from your books. These counts stay in our own database, are seen only by the app's administrator, and are not shared with any analytics company.
Nobody at KinSpend looks at your entries unless you ask for help and switch on Settings → Profile → Support access. That lets support view your account, read-only, for 24 hours: they can't change, delete or export anything. You can switch it off at any time, which ends any view in progress, and Profile lists every screen support opened.
All data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway. Data is not shared with third parties except as required to operate the service (Railway infrastructure, Anthropic AI API for message parsing).
You can delete your account at any time, in the app or on the web: sign in, open Settings → Profile, and choose Delete account. You'll be asked for your password to confirm. This permanently deletes your account and all of its data (entries, accounts, people, loans, budgets, savings, message and parsing history, usage statistics, support access history, and your linked WhatsApp number). It can't be undone, so export your data first (Settings → Data) if you want a copy. Error logs are kept to help fix bugs, but are no longer linked to you. If you can't sign in, email zonaibshah@gmail.com from your account's email address and we'll delete it for you.
You can delete parts of your KinSpend data at any time without closing your account. Sign in, then: delete entries from the ledger; delete loans under Settings → Debts; delete people, categories, events and savings goals from their pages under Settings, and budgets on the Budget page; and unlink your phone number under Settings → WhatsApp. Deleted items are removed from our database straight away (copies in our database backups disappear as those backups are replaced on their regular schedule). Removing an account (wallet, bank) hides it but keeps its history, because past entries refer to it; it is deleted with your KinSpend account. Error logs and usage counts are kept to run the service and are deleted with your account. If you'd like us to delete something for you, email zonaibshah@gmail.com from your account's email address.
